Euronatur, German Lufthansa, NaturVision and natur+kosmos had invited both amateur and professional photographers to submit their best photos of nature in Europe. This year, the competition was announced on an international level for the first time. The feedback has been impressive: 277 photographers from 21 countries sent 1.300 pictures in. "Both quantity and quality have increased", says Gabriel Schwaderer, managing director of Euronatur, "Every year, the competition attracts more attention of photographers and their professional organizations".

The twelve winner photos will be published in the wall calendar 2008, "Nature Treasures in Europe", which can be ordered in Euronatur's online shop; it will be available as of September 2007.

 

Around 40 of the best photos of the competition will be shown during a touring exhibition organized by NaturVision. The exhibition will be opened on September 6, at Schloss Wolfstein in the Bavarian town of Freyung with the formal award ceremony at 19:00 hours.
