1st prize in this year's competition: European hamster by Julian Rad
1st prize in this year's competition: European hamster by Julian Rad

European hamster, Moor frog and Great Bustard are just some of the stars of this year’s ‘Europe’s Natural Treasures’. The top twelve entries in our 2016 photography competition will appear not only in EuroNatur (issue 3, 2016) and "natur" magazine as well as on the sponsors’ websites but will also grace the pages of our 2017 EuroNatur calendar. A big thank you goes to all those who took part for their involvement.

"Winners on Tour"

The twelve prize-winning photos can be seen alongside 21 other outstanding pictures in an exhibition organised by NaturVision that opens this autumn. This will be held in the information centre Mauth in the Bayrischer Wald (Bavarian Forest) national park and will run from 1st September until 11th December 2016. The centre will also host the awards ceremony for the ‘Europe’s Natural Treasures’ competition together with the exhibition's vernissage on 17 September at 7pm.

For the 23rd time already, EuroNatur, in cooperation with the "natur" magazine, the NaturVision filmfestival and, in 2016 for the third time, the German utility company Gelsenwasser AG organized the major nature photo competition. Amateur photographers as well as professionals throughout Europe were invited to submit their five best shots of Europe's nature. 312 photographers from 22 countries followed our invitation handing in about 1.500 pictures.
