On Giving Tuesday – the International Day of Giving – people around the world show their solidarity and commitment. We, at EuroNatur, would also like to use this day to draw attention to an endangered species that urgently needs our support: the brown bear.

Once widespread, brown bears now live in only a few refuges in Europe. Their habitats are shrinking, and poaching and conflicts with humans threaten their survival. But there is hope – thanks to dedicated conservation work and your support.

EuroNatur works with partner organisations in countries such as Spain or in the Balkans to protect the last remaining bear populations. We are fight against poaching, protect refuges, and promote peaceful coexistence between humans and animals.

Every contribution counts – big or small. Let's work together to ensure that Europe's bears can continue to roam our forests tomorrow.

Fundraising campaign: Trees for bears

The burnt mountain slopes are clearly visible. Asturias has not seen fires as huge as those in the summer of 2025 since Roberto can remember.

Last summer, severe fires ravaged northwestern Spain. The consequences were devastating. Recently, Roberto Hartasánchez from our Spanish partner organisation Fapas sent out a call for help because hectares of bear habitat burned this summer.

“Because the bears can no longer find food anywhere else, they have been staying closer to the villages since the fires and are raiding the apple trees there,” says Roberto Hartasánchez. "Conflicts with the villagers are inevitable.”

Your donation enables the planting of oaks as well as apple, cherry, and plum trees for the bears in the fire-devastated region of Omaña. For the planting, browsing protection, and care of 600 trees, we urgently need at least 12.600 euros.

  • Doing good on Giving Tuesday

Giving Tuesday is a global day of giving celebrated every year on the first Tuesday after the US Thanksgiving. In 2025, it falls on 2 December. On this day, people, organisations and companies are encouraged to do good, donate, and get involved. It is the counterpart to Black Friday, which has become synonymous with unbridled consumerism. This Giving Tuesday, give to what supposedly costs nothing and yet is one of the most valuable things we have: Europe's natural heritage!

Bear sponsors wanted

Would you like to provide targeted and long-term support for cross-border bear conservation projects in Europe? Then perhaps a bear sponsorship would be something for you. This would enable us to continue our long-term commitment to protecting our furry friends. Wouldn't Giving Tuesday be the ideal opportunity to sign up for a sponsorship?!
