Albanian conservationist Ardian Koçi will be honored with this year's EuroNatur Award on October 16 on Mainau Island in Lake Constance. He is receiving the award for his exemplary commitment to the conservation goals of Divjaka-Karavasta National Park in his role as national park director and for accepting professional and personal disadvantages for his integrity. It is a sign of strengthening nature conservation in the country.

Background information: As director of the Divjaka-Karavasta National Park, Ardian Koçi has shown extraordinary commitment to the protection of this important area. Despite personal and professional disadvantages, he courageously opposed poaching and large-scale tourism projects – and was ultimately forced out of office.
