Photographic jewels from along the Balkan Green Belt

They have scrambled up mountains, crawled along muddy river banks and waited patiently for the ideal moment: a good 200 nature lovers have taken part in the Balkan Green Belt Photo Competition. And now, from among the top national photographers the five international winners have been chosen.

Nine EuroNatur partner organisations had appealed to local and visiting photographers in the states bordering the Balkan Green Belt to capture the beauty of the region along the former Iron Curtain in impressive pictures.

 

The photo competitions in Albania, Bulgaria, Greece, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro,
Romania, Serbia and Turkey form part of a project supported by Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt (German Federal Environmental Foundation) for the protection of this valuable European natural and cultural heritage.
