Project Communication Large Carnivores
A passion for biology runs in Laura Böttges’s family: her father is a forester, her mother a botanist. Laura, in turn, chose to pursue a career in zoology during her studies in ecology and biodiversity. This path has led her to the tropical regions near the equator: Cameroon, Cambodia and Peru are just a few of her research stations. In particular, Laura’s work focused on the effects of various forms of agriculture on wildlife.
Having spent her youth in South America, Laura felt drawn to Lake Constance after finishing her studies. There, she supervised various international projects for the Global Nature Fund, some of which revolved around organic agriculture in Georgia. Eventually, Laura sought to become more involved in wildlife conservation and wanted to incorporate her strong communication skills in her work. And so, in 2026, Laura joined EuroNatur, where she has taken over communications of our projects revolving around bears, wolves and lynx. She is the interface between internal and external communications – among other things, her work revolves around saving the last few specimens of the Balkan lynx and protecting brown bears in Southeastern Europe.
“It is so inspiring to see the backgrounds and experience of my colleagues at EuroNatur in action, with all of us working for a shared goal,” Laura says. “Our expertise in all these different areas helps our everyday work on an international level, especially when it comes to the coexistence of humans with large carnivores and how to talk about it.”
