Data protection

Personal data

Personal data is data which can be connected to you as a person and which may provide statements on your behaviour or particular characteristics. This covers of course your name, email and postal address and telephone number but also indicators of possible interests, from how you make donations to how you surf in as far as these items of information can be directly or indirectly asociated with you personally.

Data security and data management

EuroNatur receives such personal data from donors and sponsors and it is necessary for us to receive and manage donations. For example we need your address to send you the EuroNatur magazine as also to send you your donation receipt for the year.

We also need your address, and with your permission, your telephone number and e-mail address to inform you of current projects and developments or planned activities of the EuroNatur foundation. As far as possible when the data is collected and it is clear that certain items are not absolutely required, they are presented as voluntary and are therefore not marked as required.

We give you our assurance that we do not, either through trading of addresses to other companies or to organisations, sell, lease, give away, pass on or exchange your data. As a matter of course you have the right at any time to stop receiving information from us and to revoke your consent to the use of your communication data. In this case please write to datenschutz(at)euronatur.org.

In order to fulfil our tasks we have to work with service providers in dispatch who may receive personal data for this purpose. These service providers are bound by contractual agreement to EuroNatur and are only allowed to use personal data for the purpose permitted.

For order processing EuroNatur Service GmbH (100% subsidiary of the EuroNatur Foundation) also collects personal data from its customers. For this data the same stipulations pertain as for data collected by EuroNatur. Please read the General Terms and Conditions and further information under the heading “Shop” (only in German).

Online services

If you register for one of our online services, for instance if you subscribe to an online newsletter or make donations online we ask you for your name and other personal information which we need. We would never use your email address for other purposes without your consent. As a matter of principle the software we use conveys your data in encrypted form in order to exclude any access by unauthorised third persons. Your data is stored on specially protected servers. The access to it is only possible for a few authorized persons and these are all familiar with the prevailing data protection regulations.

IP-addresses

For a processing request of EuroNatur websites the temporary registration of the IP number is indispensible. The IP address is the world-wide valid, unique identification of a computer and consists of four numbers separated by full stops. Usually, if you are a private user you will not have a permanent IP address since it is only allotted to you temporarily by your provider for one session. However in the case of static IP addresses a clear attribution of user data is in principle possible.

Our web servers store IP addresses for reasons of security for a specific period of time. The access data is anonymised. Our statistics software also stores IP addresses for a longer period of time. As a matter of principle we do not however use this data as related to any particular person, we merely analyse, on an anonymised basis, which of our web site pages are the favourites, how many hits are registered each day or the like.

We do place cookies (small text files with information on visits to the website which are temporarily saved on your harddisk) These help us to calculate the user frequency and numbers of users of our website or to transfer order data to your shopping basket at the EuroNatur Shop. Brown Bear

Seen as a predator with a sweet tooth, a much loved model for soft toys yet outlawed and hunted down as a blood-thirsty beast: the brown bear.

Lynx

Lithe and skillful, the lynx is a shy, lone hunter. If it is to survive in Europe and if the population is to be undisturbed enough to increase in number, intensive protection measures will be required.

Wolf

Mankind's relationship to the wolf is ambivalent – on the one hand the animal is admired as a skilled and untiring hunter but also ill-famed as Isengrim the bloodthirsty and persecuted.

Migratory birds

Always to be where living conditions are best: this is a luxury that only those with wings can afford.

Green Belt

Across 12 500 kilometres (over 7700 miles) the Green Belt stretches along the one-time Iron Curtain forming a corridor of habitats for an exceptional diversity of species.

Rivers in Europe

Where in Germany can you still find the original wild rivers? You'll need a magnifying glass. But in the Balkans such utopias still exist on a large scale, even today.

Environmental award since 1992.
